Revelation 19:11-15

Revelation 19:11-15

Verse 11 introduces the One that this whole Book, the Bible is about.  Whose return to the earth is called the “Second Coming” or Second Event!”

Many confuse the pre-tribulation Rapture with the Second Coming, particularly those that do not believe in the Rapture revelation the Apostle Paul wrote about in the 4th chapter of 1st Thessalonians.

These are two very different, very distinct events.  The first is the Bridegroom coming for His Bride “as a thief in the night!”  This is called The Rapture.  The second is His coming to earth to defeat His enemies at Armageddon and to rule and reign on the earth for a thousand years.  This is called The Second Coming.

We have in this verse the beginning of the description of Heaven opening up and Jesus coming on a white horse.  It is being noted here that He is called ‘Faithful and True,’ He is the righteous judge and in this instance He comes to make war.

The day of the Rapture is concealed and no man knows the exact time of His coming.  However, we can perceive the season if we are sensitive to the spiritual atmosphere for we are the children of the light.  At the Second Coming that we are discussing here, the peoples of the earth will see His coming and dread what is about to happen.

Matthew 24:30 says “they will see the Son of man coming in the clouds…”

Revelation 1:7   “Behold, he cometh with clouds; and every eye shall see him, and they also which pierced him: and all kindred’s of the earth shall wail because of him.  Even so, Amen.”
Verse 12 continues the description of Jesus with eyes as a flame of fire.  In chapter one of this book we see the same description of Jesus’ eyes while judging the churches.  Depending on how we lived our Christian lives on the earth, we could see these same eyes at the Judgment Seat of Christ.

Although it will be temporary, we will not enjoy that moment in Heaven.  The Good News!  We can change those eyes by being faithful to His Word, to His church and live lives that represent the new creation we have been given.  Then the eyes we will enjoy will be of deep, deep love instead.  He will never stop loving us; however love will judge our works, whether good of bad, which is the reward system all Believers will face on that day.

On His head are many crowns and He will carry a Name that no one knows except Him!  Many crowns signify His deity.  He is Lord of all!  King of kings, there is none greater!

In verse 13 He is clothed with a vesture (robe or garment) that is dipped in blood.  This is a reference found in Isaiah 63:2-3; the blood being that of His enemies coming through the winepress of God’s wrath.

His name is called the Word of God.  This pins it down that we are talking about the One that came as the Word of God made flesh, JESUS!

Verse 14 here we come!  We that are citizens of Heaven and believe in the Rapture will be in this number.  We will be clothed with purity and righteousness reigning with Christ and mounted on our own stallion to come to the fight!

Verse 15 tells us the fight will not last long.  As soon as Jesus opens His mouth, it is over.  Jesus used the same power and authority when He walked the earth to destroy the works of the devil by the Word of God.  It is by that same Word that we can resist and destroy the works of the enemy in our lives and the lives of others.

Jesus will set up His reign after He defeats the nations and they taste the fierceness of His wrath.  Once He sets up His Throne, He will then judge the nations as stated in Mathew 25 and as called the ‘Valley of Decision’ in Joel 3:14
