Food For Thought…
A daily devotional inspired by Holy Spirit and written by Pastor David Talbert.
Matthew 11:28 – 30
“Come to me, all who are tired from carrying heavy loads and I will give you rest. Place my yoke over your shoulders, and learn from me, because I am gentle and humble. Then you will find rest for yourselves because my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”
If we were able to see the weight of the burdens that many Believers carry, we would probably be amazed at the greatness of the load. Picture a person with a pack on their back that is huge and weighs hundreds of pounds. This is what we would see if we could see into the spirit realm. Jesus knew this and was teaching us that it does not have to be this way. Even the burden of the cross, He did not carry. He knew how to let His Father carry it the whole way until the appointed time came that He was to carry it; for us. He spoke of it coming, yet He was at perfect peace. When He did take the burden, it was so great He sweat great drops of blood. Once he took it though, that was to be the end of it. He gave us the Holy Spirit in order to keep us from having to ever carry a burden again. 1 John 2:20; 27, states ‘we have an anointing from the Holy Spirit’ and Isaiah 10:27 says ‘the anointing destroys the yoke or burden’ that can be upon us. Then Jesus tells us to ‘take His yoke or burden for it is easy and light.’ When we learn to know Him as the Christ, which means anointing, then we can walk in this; which is Shalom!
